Probably true, but neither will blink's popularity in any meaningful way. The last album fell off the charts in less than a month. :/

creative melodies, lyrical content, experimental and changing sound on practically every album, singles and b sides that were not included on albums, yet contained some of their biggest hits (ie Sgt Pepper or the White Album have no number hits; but Penny Lane, and Hey Jude as examples were number one hits from the same sessions)..being the first rock band to write their own songs..covering Motown songs and helping to launch that record label..breaking up and each member having number albums, massive hits like Imagine, The Concert for Bangladesh, all the way until the late 80s on the singles charts... being the voice of and for a generation...covering a range of genres, from sparking hard rock with Helter Skelter to the singer songwriter movement with Yesterday, Blackbird to Motown as mentioned. Leading a generation of artists like The Stones, The Who, Dylan, The Beach Boys, Eric Clapton, who defined the 60s and 70s..

You listen to the foo fighters, Nirvana and Dave Ghorl specifically said the Beatles were by far their biggest influence

Penny Lane is maybe my favorite Beatles song ever, but it was never a no.1 cause it was double a-side with Strawberry Fields, so the sells were splitted between them and both became 'only' no.2. :) Anyway, both amazing songs!

Hi David. Saw a shout you left on a track by Robert Wilkins about violent music. Get a chance listen to "A-Z Blues" by Blind Willie McTell, probably the most violent song I have ever come across. Have a good weekend Ray

I love "Chemical Love" as well. And, yes sadly, R.I.P. Phil. You would love that boxset. One of the crown jewels in my collection. I find their mid & late 60s stuff fascinating.

Hey, thanks for sharing! :) You're like me - you love Stevie Wonder so i know you'll enjoy these albums, even though they are different from his classic 70s period. The man just doesn't release a bad album(It's time for another one, Stevie!) I haven't heard SSD but i've got the rest. For me, CHARACTERS is the weakest of the ones listed, but has some songs I love on it. I really enjoy JF & CP. ISC has one of my all time Stevie faves "Overjoyed". Take care.

I'm a Motown fan 1st because of James Jamerson, my favorite bassist (even over Macca) and the Detroit line up of the Funk Brothers, particularly when Benny Benjamin was on drums. The singers aren't as important to me, save Stevie Wonder & Marvin Gaye. The Four Tops would be my favorite group. I enjoy the Holland-Dozier-Holland productions best. I guess my favorite Motown album besides various greatest hits compilations would have to be Gaye's WHAT'S GOING ON. Sorry for the long winded answer. :) And you?
