I'll take that as a compliment coming from a real drummer :) I'm playing everything except the rhythm guitar. Hey, I love your new avi - that is awesome!

You're gonna hate me but i programmed an Alesis HR-16 for the drums. i've never had a real kit but always wanted one so i had to settle for the machine. i always tried very hard to get realistic sounds as well as program it like a player would play - with my limited knowledge of course :)

Hope you had a good holiday weekend. I watched the Concert for Bangladesh. Very enjoyable with some humorous moments as well. Truly a Rock milestone.

Hey, man. Thanks for sharing :) .The band is sounding tighter! Your drumming is impeccable as always. I was so happy when you caught some of those fills in "Let's Get it On" - some of my favorite parts of the song. I went back on youtube and caught your Keith Moon solo - awesome. Thanks again for sharing.

I'd like to go to Friar Park, too. ELO - Not really a bad album in their catalog. "Out of the Blue" is their masterpiece. I guess "Face the Music" would make a good introduction, straightforward album as to what their sound is all about. I think that since you enjoy classical music, you'll really enjoy the string arrangements of ELO. Bev Bevan is not too shabby either, although he was gradually replaced by drum machines. If you try it out, let me know what you think :) Have a great weekend.

Yeah, that's a great show & a wonderful tribute. The man had friends! My dad loves that one too; i think he watches it every other week or so (ha). I got him the Scorsese doc for his birthday. I really enjoyed that, very well done. Do you like ELO?

I could too, so ramble on! :) I'm right there with ya. I really love playing bass. I'm ok at rhythm guitar and can get by on keyboards. The hard part about jamming (as you know) is finding people who know a wide range of songs in common. I think we'd do just fine. One time I met a guy and we sat down and ended up playing and singing through most of the Beatle catalog. Took a while but it was great and we harmonized well. We're still friends, we enjoy doing Everly stuff too.

Yeah man. Not huge, but a fan. I probably like the bands they came from better. Ditto on what you said about Mic Fleetwood. Love his tom work. Btw, your list of live acts seen is very impressive. I'm very jealous :) . If i lived in Ohio, i'd sign up to get to jam with you if the opportunity ever arose :)

yes, LIVE IN LONDON is a great (official!) live LP. :) / about dennis: yes, a fun-loving, generous guy, but tormented and restless. he wasn't meant to walk this earth for very long, but while he was, he was living life to the fullest. which makes him an interesting human being. he's the main reason, besides anecdotes about brian, why i read every BBs-related book i can get my hands on. plus, he's a very relatable musician, since his output is so raw (yet beautiful), because he produced it in a very 'direct' manner.

sure, there are numerous versions of "... needs me". cool tune. :) that's awesome, about your dad. what's his name? i (or people i know) might be able to 'identify' him, or know his name. on the other hand there were lots of different backing musicians back then, and lots of denny's friends attending his solo sessions. anyway, that's really great. and yes, the BBs of course are one of the best pop/rock bands of all time, no question about that. / p.s. if you're into that sort of stuff, here's a cool BBs message board: http://www.smileysmile.net/board/ - use the board's search function and you'll be able to turn up info on basically anything BBs-related. if you're not already a member, that is. ;)

haha. same over here. every BBs LP has at least a few (or one..) gem(s) on it, even the 80s and 90s LPs. if you like their live stuff, you should check out some bootlegged stuff from the late 60s to early 70s. knebworth is cool, but i can't stand mike's processed vocals. don't listen to it anymore. yeah, dennis was a musical genius in his own right. an unconventional drummer whose raw sound helped to form their early sound, and later a great songwriter. i imagine you have his solo recordings? there are also some neat bootlegs with unreleased dennis stuff out there. and there was a brilliant documentary (produced by BBC4) a couple of years ago, to coincide with the re-release of POB. you should check that one out, if you haven't already. so.. your fav denny song?

yep, I saw them at the Beacon in NYC about a month ago and I'm also seeing them in a few weeks at the PNC Bank Arts Center in NJ. and that's just for this tour... I tried waking up early enough to see them play in Central Park this morning but it didn't work out.
