So today I was extremely bored and having nothing better to do I decided to make a little game out of listening to my music. So I decided to start with a track, and then using last.fm's related tracks list on the tracks page I randomly selected the next song that I would listen to. I was curious to see how far away from the original song I would be able to get in 20 songs. It didn't turn out quite as I'd thought, though it could just be the songs I chose.
I started with Dr. Dre - Deep Cover
after that it took me to Dr. Dre - Fuck Wit Dre Day
then to Dr. Dre -Deeez Nuuuts
then yet another Dre song Dr. Dre - High Powered
Finally I managed to get away from Dre for a minute and go to Snoop Dogg - Pump Pump
then another Dre track Dr. Dre - Stranded on Death Row
Still on the west the next song was 2Pac -
2 Of Amerikaz Most Wanted
Finally I made the move over the the east coast with Notorious B.I.G. - Big Poppa
next to a classic track Big L -
Put It On
over to Mobb Deep -
Survival Of The Fittest
to Nas -
The World Is Yours
then over to a song that sampled the previous one Jay-Z -Dead Presidents II
next to the Wu-Tang Clan, where the track list managed to stay for the rest of the songs Wu-Tang Clan -
C.R.E.A.M.
Raekwon-
Incarcerated Scarfaces a song by a Wu-Tang member
Ol' Dirty Bastard - Brooklyn Zoo another song by a Wu-Tang member of course
then back to the whole clan Wu-Tang Clan -
Protect Ya Neck
Back to Ol' Dirty with Ol' Dirty Bastard -
Shimmy Shimmy Ya
another Wu-Tang Method Man - Bring the pain
over to one of the best rap duos ever Method Man & Redman - Da Rockwilder
and for the last one Method Man & Redman - Blackout
So as you can see I didn't end too far away from the original song, at least not as much as I'd expected. I figured the last song would be Lady Gaga or something crazy like that. I'm definitely going to try it again and see what happens. If anything it's a great way to listen to some deeper tracks you might not otherwise have given a listen to, or to listen to some tracks you haven't heard in a while. I hope someone reads this and maybe does the same thing and posts their results.
On a not related note I've started using twitter so anyone on my friends list who also has one should follow me, send me a message and I'll follow you back too.
