Our ancestors used to call it simply website, nowadays we’d rather say it’s a weblog, or shorter: a blog. 78s does not intend to cover everything. We are perfectly aware that there are masses of similar projects out there in the virtual world. No problem for us: We are better, quicker, funnier, more precise, more insightful – and above all: shorter. That’s what 78s is, and of course a lot more.

Well, we haven’t answered your most pressing question in this egomanic expose, have we? Why is this queerish yellow-and-black website with its fuzzy logo called 78s? 78s is more than a name, it’s a dogma. No text on 78s.ch will take more than 78 seconds of your time to be read, some are even as short as 78 words. Amazing, innit?

But why 78 rather than, say, 79? 78 is the number of times old records needed to rotate in a minute (rpm) to eliminate static noise. 78s will be your way to avoid static noise in the internet that comes in the form of tons of useless information on websites that create more pop-ups than insights. That’s why we called it 78s. Well, we like nostalgia. Thus 78s.ch is meant to be a homage to the medium that once brought music to its lovers.
