Biografie

Jim O’Rourke (* 1969 in Chicago, USA) ist ein Experimental-Musiker, Musik-Produzent und Kurzfilm-Regisseur.

Sein musikalisches Werk ist beeinflusst von Jazz, Klassischer Musik, Noisemusik und Gitarren-Rockmusik.

Neben seinen Solo-Arbeiten ist er in diversen Bands und Projekten aktiv: Er ist Mitglied bei Mimir, einem Projekt von Christoph Heemann (Hirsche Nicht aufs Sofa) und Edward Ka-Spel.

Mit David Grubbs zusammen betrieb er das Projekt Gastr del Sol. Zwischen 2000 und 2005 war er Mitglied bei Sonic Youth. Er beendete jedoch seine aktive Teilnahme an der Band für seine Arbeit als Kurzfilm-Regisseur.

    old news #7 was one of my favourite releases last year, I should really get around to listening to the rest of the series. modular synth work fascinates me more the more I hear it. Dilloway's side project Spine Scavenger, for example.

    Picked up Insignificance on a whim because it was dead cheap and as well as his ties with Sonic Youth I always hear his name everywhere else. I'm glad I picked it up. It's pretty fuckin' ace. For some reason I thought all his solo stuff was weird instrumental stuff...
